How To Get Backlinks From Your Optimized Blog

How To Get Backlinks To Your WordPress Blog (and other platforms)Pt.1

Get backlinks with RSSWhen people talk about how to get backlinks, they are generally talking about getting backlinks from another website. This can happen in several ways. The best way is if you publish some outstanding content and people link to it naturally. But you can also get backlinks to your webpage by building link networks, either manually or buying software to help you do it.

But, did you know, getting backlinks to your blog (especially wordpress) is even simpler than everything that I mentioned above? This is because most blogging platforms have the tools already built into them that are designed to let the search engines (and other people) know that you have put some content on your site.

How To Get Backlinks Using RSS

One of the easiest and simplest ways to get backlinks to your blog is to make sure that the RSS function is enabled. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. This basically produces a stream of your blog content as it’s published that people can read without having to go to your website.

To make sure this is enabled on your WordPress blog, just go to “Setting—>Writing—>… and toward the bottom of the page you’ll check (or tick) the boxes for “Atom” or “XML-RPC”.

This will create an RSS feed on your blog for people to subscribe to. Also, you can take the feed URL (typically www.yourdomain.com/feed – on wordpress sites) and post that on other blogs, Squidoo lenses, and feed aggregators.

However, one of the better ways to use your feed is to submit it to Google’s Feedburner RSS reader. The reason that this is important is because you can optimize the feed with your target keyword if it’s not already a part of your URL.

How To Get Anchor Text Backlinks From Feedburner

When you set up your Feedburner feed, you get to chose the URL. For instance, your Feedburner URL may read something like: http://feeds.feedburner.com/YourKeyword(s).

Whether you use your blog’s own feed or get one from Feedburner, to get maximum exposure to backlinks you should submit your RSS feed to as many RSS aggregators as possible.

Basically an aggregator is a library for RSS feeds for short. It’s a place where anyone can go and subscribe to any feed that is in the library. Submitting to these services is one simple and free way that you can build links pointing back to your site from legit websites. The more sites that you submit to, the more backlinks to your site that you get.

How To Get Backlinks Using Feed Aggregators

Now there are several aggregators that you can choose from. Feedage and Feedagg are 2 of the many. Once you have your feed URL, you can go to these sites and submit the URLs at no charge. Each time you publish a blog post, these feed URLs will be updated adding backlinks to your site.

There is a cool piece of software that I found that actually will submit the feed of your choice to about 30 aggregators at one time. This tool is called RSS submitter pro. It’s not a web based service but a piece of software that sits on your hard drive.  Get a free copy of RSS submitter pro.

This is just one tactic of link building to your blog. It’s not sexy or glamorous. But, it doesn’t cost a lot of money either. And, what’s more, while some of the “sexy” programs and software come and go, RSS is here to stay. This alone makes it essential that you understand what your RSS feed is and how to get backlinks to your blog by using it the right way.
